Yes, another baseball trip.
We drove to Vegas for our spring break and what better place to spend it than Sin City? I could actually think of a million different places I would like to spend my spring break but we really did have quite a good time.
We stayed at Sams Town, a casino just off the strip and if you are looking to stay in Vegas with a family, this is the place to stay. The pool is lovely, there is a water show, a McDonalds right downstairs, and it is super affordable.
One thing I was not expecting when we arrived the first night is that it was freezing. Windy. Not sunny Vegas weather which I had been counting on and packed for. Luckily while I was packing, a little bird whispered that it may be a good idea to pack a sweatshirt for the boys. Sometimes my mommy sense does kick in.
The Scrappers did well the first day. They won both of their games.
The second game was almost unbearable at times with the strength of the wind and the fact that we were playing at night which made it even colder. Nick pitched a phenomenal game.
His hat even blew off a couple times because of the wind!
Luckily, the weather cooperated the rest of the trip and we were able to go swimming the next morning before heading off to see more baseball.
This little band of misfits explored every inch of the park together. I am so grateful there are friends to hang out with to help the games not seem so long for the kids and help it so it is more enjoyable for me since I can actually watch them and pay attention to what is going on.
We lost the first game and blew the second game out of the water.
Wow, I love these boys. Although it did take me a while before I was able to get an appropriate picture to post on the blog.
Because of our awesome record we were able to head to the Field of Dreams park and played on the Yankees field. The entire park itself was amazing with different replicas of the Red Sox, Angels, and Dodgers stadiums just to name a few.
We played like crap. Nothing would go our way and the boys made error after error. Nick blew off some steam warming up to pitch with Justin.
The boys had fun regardless. They had french toast sticks for breakfast from the snack bar since our game started at 8 in the morning. They had a ginormous pickle for a snack. The cute boy who is holding Liam is one of the teammates' brother, Alex. He is a total sweetheart. He loves pickles and since he was eating one, the boys had to too.
Luke was very sick of me taking pictures.
I had to sneak a picture of this darling team. It is crazy that Nick was once this small with his little Angels jersey on. Ah, memories.
Although it was sad we lost, there was still plenty of time to spend the day exploring Vegas. And get some cute photos in front of this giant baseball.
We went back to the hotel and ate lunch and swam.
Then we headed down to Freemont Street.
Do you notice anything very, very wrong in this picture?
Justin, Nick, and Andrew went on the huge zipline that ran down Freemont Street. While the other boys and I waited for them to get to the platform, we went into this cool toy shop that had figurines and toys from the old days when I was growing up. The boys both wanted something, but I just couldn't bring myself to shell out the fifty plus dollars they were asking for a star wars action figure.
Here are the brave men getting ready.
Here they come!
After the zipline, we headed to the strip. We saw Ceasar's palace.
Saw the fountains at the Bellagio.
And even fit in some ice cream before all the sickos were out handing out fliers with naked bodies on them.
We had such a fun day, and a fun trip.
