*broken*

Justin accompanied Nick this year to the JUCO tournament in Grand Junction, Colorado.

The Scrappers did awesome.

Everything was in line for them to go all the way but during the second inning of the final playoff game, this happened:

I called to see how the game was going and was not expecting the response that came out of Justin's mouth.

"Nick broke his arm and I am taking him to the emergency room."

Now, Justin can be quite a jokester and it took me a minute to realize that he was not kidding. I then asked him how it happpened.

Nick was playing first base and the pitcher threw a wild ball to him to get the runner out. Nick reached out for it along the first base line with his arm completely outstretched and then the runner ran right into his arm.

Nick said he dropped to his knees and looked at his arm because it started hurting. Then it got swollen. Justin said he could tell it was broken the second it happened.

There were no tears because of the broken arm, Nick cried because he thought he was letting his team down.

Poor guy. I guess he kept saying how bad he felt over and over while they were waiting for the xray.

The Scrappers came in second in the tournament. His coach said they really missed him and they wished he would have been playing. So did Nick.

The tournament ended on Sunday and there was a game Monday night. Nick obviously didn't play but his teammates brought a card and one of the moms made him this awesome treat:

Nick was relieved to see his team didn't hate him (like they would anyway...Nick just needs to relax a bit) and that he was still part of the team.

Thanks Scrappers!
